January 25: Chromebook care, Cardboard Convention After School Work Time, Family resources

 Hi, everyone, Cardboard Convention work time We are offering time at school for students to work on their Cardboard Convention project. This project is not required , but students and families can display their work on February 15 at 6:00 PM. Mr. Hansen and I are offering times after school on January 31, February 2, February 7, and February 9 between 4-5 PM. Please email this Cardboard Convention Permission Slip , if your child is going to stay and work in the LMC and STEM lab. If your child is a little confused, we will all make a paper prototype in STEM Monday and Tuesday. Chromebook Care: We are seeing a few more damaged Chromebooks recently, and right now, we do not have loaners available for students to borrow . I have two set aside for students who need to test.  Dearest Frisco Families, LMC, Tech, and Inquiry This week, music begins, and I am teaching Library Media Center and Inquiry lessons. What does that mean, you ask? Inquiry is a key component to IB, even at very young ages.  Grades 2-5 will focus on asking different levels of questions to avoid asking the questions that are "Googleable". We will be talking about questions using slightly different language, but here is a short video  that explains three different types and why it is important to be thinking critically.  Approaches to learning are another key part of IB learning. Thinking skills are essential to continuing to apply learning outside of school. In our lessons, thinking skills look like the following. We can come up with creative ideas. We can think about our learning. Question hats (levels of questions) are one example. Kindergarten and first grade will be learning about how to prove their opinions. Prove it!
