May 13: Family STEM Night, Classroom Updates

Dear Frisco Families, I am looking forward to seeing the families who signed up for Family STEM Night on May 18 at 6:00! I will see you in the STEM lab next to the library-media center for some creative building time. Kindergarten focused on creativity and building strategies this week, as they used pipe cleaners and playdough to express themselves. We looked at other kindergarten work in order to get ideas for different ways to put the materials together, and several worked as a table to create things like a restaurant. First grade got to build the Lego wall, and the Lego wall is featuring inventions by kids!  Second grade built aluminum foil boats that float and hold as many bottle caps as possible. After they drew a paper prototype in order to ideate (brainstorm) individually, they shared their ideas with their table in order to come up with a group plan. May 6: Classroom Updates, Family STEM Night, Clubs Update

 Hello, Frisco Families, Please watch the 5 minute video sharing what we have been learning about in the last few weeks! Do be sure to open the links below for photos, too. Family STEM Night Please join us on May 18th at 6:00 in the STEM / Library Media area for some STEM fun. Complete the Google Form letting me know you and your family are coming:) Clubs Update Lego WeDo challenges were a ton of fun, and that club is officially finished. You can find photos of student work below. VEX Robotics will meet at 7:30 AM on May 5 and for one final time on May 9 at 7:30 AM . Pictures and video to come. I am so pleased with student strategies for collaboration, as they divided up tasks to get their robot built. Sewing Club will meet one last time May 10 at 8:00 AM.   There is a solid possibility that we will spend a little time teaching the kids to hand sew for the final touches.
