May 6: Classroom Updates, Family STEM Night, Clubs Update

 Hello, Frisco Families,

Please watch the 5 minute video sharing what we have been learning about in the last few weeks! Do be sure to open the links below for photos, too.

Family STEM Night

Please join us on May 18th at 6:00 in the STEM / Library Media area for some STEM fun. Complete the Google Form letting me know you and your family are coming:)

Clubs Update

Lego WeDo challenges were a ton of fun, and that club is officially finished. You can find photos of student work below.

VEX Robotics will meet at 7:30 AM on May 5 and for one final time on May 9 at 7:30 AM. Pictures and video to come. I am so pleased with student strategies for collaboration, as they divided up tasks to get their robot built.

Sewing Club will meet one last time May 10 at 8:00 AM.  There is a solid possibility that we will spend a little time teaching the kids to hand sew for the final touches.

Welcome to STEM!

Dear Panther Families, I am so excited to be a part of your Frisco Elementary teaching faculty, and I’m excited to work with your children in STEM class! STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and our class explores the process of engineering design, and we collaborate with teachers to connect classroom activities to real life careers. We will learn and practice good digital citizenship, too. Wait until you see the tools we will use to imagine, build, and reimagine! I come to you from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, a town between Madison and Milwaukee. My husband Jason and I have two children. Our daughter Alex is a junior at Indiana-Bloomington, and our son Brendan is a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (my alma mater! Go, Badgers!). We love live music, running, hiking, and skiing, much like everyone else in this beautiful county. Professionally, I have taught six years of third grade, two years of fourth grade, and seven years of sixth grade, three y...

I will be requesting NutKases for grades 3 and 4 when we come back from break. If you would like to put in an order before then , here is the link to do so. NutKases are fabulously protective of your child's technology, and as I have been sharing, most damage will be waived, if we know your child has the case on when damage occurs.  If you have already requested one, please ask your child if it is on their Chromebook. Some of the older students have them, but they are sometimes a little resistant to using them.  You can clean the outside of the Chromebook and the keyboard with wipes or a damp cloth. There have been a few cases wher...
